OUR history

The Story

On March 3, 2002 , while battling the traffic caused by the L.A. Marathon, twenty-two resilient Christians gathered together at the Garden Suites Hotel in Los Angeles to worship the Lord. This marked the beginning of what would later become Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

Without an identity or a name, these men and women were led by the vision to see the kingdom of God advanced by reaching out to our generation with the power of the gospel of Christ. With much fear, this ministry has continued its journey, and in the process, the Lord blessed us more than we could ever have imagined. Despite our mistakes, flaws, and youthfulness, God has shined brightly in and through our church, leaving no doubt that He does have a plan for our church in this city.

Recognizing our need for support and accountability, Redeemer Presbyterian Church became a mission church in the Korean Southwest Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) on August 2, 2002. We believe that God will use this partnership to make Redeemer more effective in accomplishing the work that God has called us to do.

This story is only just the beginning, and, with God’s grace, we anticipate a long and storied history. We look forward with excitement to see how the Lord will work through our church. And one day, we will look back and proclaim, “Our Redeemer Lives!”.
